The Wolf of Wall Street

Language : English
Country    : USA
Year          : 2013

Genre       : Crime | Drama | Biographical | Comedy
Duration   : 3hr

Director    : Martin Scorsese
Actors       : Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie, Kyle Chandler

Leonardo DiCaprio .... just when I thought 2013 cudn't be any better than "The Great Gatsby", he hits us with an even bigger tsunami with "The Wolf ". Absolutely brilliant movie. His acting skills aced pretty much every slide of the reel. Though its 10% story telling mode, the 3hr movie is 90% pure awesome. The story centers the life of Jordan Belfort, who rose to fame with his company in stock marketing, then following his abuse of money and involvement in crime, corruption, fraudulence, sex/alchohol/drugs addiction and eventualy leading to losing it all. So much for the story, but my God what an act. You gotta see it to believe it :)

Captain Philips

Language : English
Country    : USA
Year          : 2013

Genre       : Crime | Drama | Biographical | Adventure
Duration   : 2hr 10 mins

Director    : Paul Greengrass
Actors       : Tom Hanks, Barkhad Abdi, Barkhad Abdirahman,
Faysal Ahmed

Tom Hanks... I dont remember a time where Ive gone for a movie of his with huge expectation and came back dissapointed, and this movie here is no exception. Captain Philips, is a based on the real life story of Captain Richard Philips who was captured by the Somalian pirates in the waters of Somalia. The story is based on the book written by Richard himself, "A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALS, and Dangerous Days at Sea". Tom Hanks did a wonderful job being the captain, although there were allegation from some crew members that Philips wasnt that much of a Hero as its shown in the film. But thats whole another story.
The movie is well paced, plenty of suspense and that anxiety factor playing in, the crew and Hanks were brilliant. But what deserves more appreciation here are those who played the Somalian pirates, especially Barkhad Abdi who played the lead of the 4 member pirate crew. He was a chauffeur in the States and had no dream of becoming an actor, but the talent that he showed portraying the charater Muse (pirate lead) was just exemplary. The other supporting actors who played the other pirates were good too. Stand up applause for that. All in all, this is a really good movies. Highly recommended :)

Country    : India
Year          : 2013

Genre       : Drama | Crime | Thriller
Duration   :  2hr 40 mins

Director    : Jeethu Joseph
Actors       : Mohan Lal, Meena

I've always wondered why isn't there any novel concept in the Indian movie industry or why isn't there any movie without the cheezy songs or long boring story ? .. Long gone are those days where we used to have a decent thriller .. Decent acting, a good story, plot suspense but most important of all, beautiful execution are few aspects which I personally think was inexistent in any of the Indian movies released last year ... But thanks to Jeethu Joseph for bringing all of them back home with "Drishyam" .. A Great Watch

Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu (Be with You)

Country    : Japan
Year          : 2004

Genre       : Drama | Romance | Fantasy
Duration   :  1hr 40 mins

Director    :
Actors       : Yûko Takeuchi, ,

Ive never really sat down to watch a romantic Japanese movie in a long while, yes of course the Il Mare but its on different scale when compared to this one.
The story begins with the life of a father and son, trying to fill for the absence of Mio, wife of Takumi and mother of Yuji. She made a promise before her death that she will come back during the rainy season. Quite mysteriously during the rainy season of one particular year, while the were in the forest, they meet a women who looks exactly like Mio, but she dsnt have any memory of who she is or what she is to them. Story moves on as Yuji and Takumi rebuilds their life with Mio's return and once again falling love. Will Mio finally realize who she is or how she got there ? Will their love still hold on ? The way the story unwinds its just shear beauty, even more so with fantastic direction and camera work, making this movie irresistible and impossible not to have your eyes wet while being completely oblivious during the entire length of the movie.
I could say a thousand cheesy sentences about this movie and still feel unsatisfied having not being able to express it completely because this movie is beyond words. So I am going to skip that all together and leave it to you to feel and experience it for yourself.

Definitely a Must Watch.

Eden

Language : English
Country    : USA
Year          : 2012

Duration   : 1hr 30mins

Director    :  Megan Griffiths
Actors       : Jamie Chung, Matt o'leary, Breau Bridges

Based on a true story happened in 1990s in Washington, USA  - the movie centers the struggle of a Korean American girl Young Jae who was abducted and thrown into sex trafficking. The movie paces up with her plot to escape from the captivity guarded by guns and muscles. Movie throws quite an insight into the sex trafficking industry and the lives of the young girls who have no choice but to smile for the clients. Movie feels special having female director Megan Griffiths involved to help write the scripts for the movie and later steer it exactly the way the person involved experienced it.

Interesting movie with  brilliant acting from Jamie Chung and a warm background scores make this movie, quite a watch.

World War Z

Year: 2013

IMDB - 7.1/10
Rotten Tomatoes -  67%

It's uneven and diverges from the source book, but World War Z still brings smart, fast-moving thrills and a solid performance from Brad Pitt to the zombie genre. Story goes like the United Nations employee Gerry Lane traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to destroy humanity itself.
