Hero

Language : Cantonese
Country    : China
Year          : 2002

Genre       : Action | Drama | History
Duration   : 1hr 40mins

Director    : Yimou Zhang
Actors       : Jet Li, Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, Donnie Yen, Zhang Ziyi

This is a historical movie about an outstanding attempt of one man, an assailant, to challenge an Empire in an effort to unite the country. Brilliantly worked out action sequences and yet it stands out to say that its not all about martial arts and swords.. its more than that. It shows honor, love, valor, dedication, knowledge, strength and many other qualities that you normally dont see much in martial arts movies besides in movies like Fearless. With a strong cast and emotions laid out well, this movie is quite beautiful. Definite must watch.

Mad Detective

Language : Cantonese
Country    : Hong Kong
Year          : 2007

Genre       : Drama, Thriller, Investigation
Duration   : 1hr 30mins

Director    :  Johnnie To, Ka-Fai Wai
Actors       : Ching Wan Lau, Andy On, Ka Tung Lam

It is a psychological thriller movie about a rookie cop who investigates the case of a serial killer, with the help of an ex detective who has a special gift to sense peoples personality but is seen and live like a crazy guy. Story begins as an investigation on a missing cop but the cop's gun is linked to serial killing. Investigation style of the mad detective is rather amusing and quite interesting to watch really. Besides decent acting and story, the most plausible of all is the direction. The movie looks phenomenally great in the hands of Jonnie to and Wai Ka fai.... brilliant stuff and a very good entertainer.

Wu Xia (Dragon)

Year          : 2011
Country    : China
Language : Mandarin/Cantonese

7 /10 - IMDb
80%  - Rotten Tomatoes

Wu Xia is a martial arts thriller movie about a man who worked at a paper mill (Donnie Yen) happen to have brought down 2 convicted murderers who were trying to rob a shop. The autopsy didnt show any signs of physical attack on the body of both who were murdered, which puzzles the investigator (Takeshi Kaneshiro) to look into deeper into the case which unravels the mystery about the silent innocent man. The movie is about how Donnie Yen stands up for his family and kids than his own father or his evil clan. Great movie with good acting and action sequels.

The Grandmaster

Year          : 2013
Language : Mandarin/Cantonese
Country    : Hong Kong

The movie is based on the life of Ip Man in a wong kar wai style. Movie shifts its pace and also its scenes at times and can be confusing at times but there is a certain beauty to it. The cinematography is really great, and the stunt choreography is equally brilliant as well; touched with a decent story the movie is quite a watch.

Ip Man 3

Year          : 2013
Country    : Hong Kong
Language : Cantonese

This movie is a sequel to the other Ip Man series concentrating mostly on the Ip Man's struggle to live in developing HongKong city while having constant threats from the local triads. The movie maynot be for all, as it does not have much action sequences but then again he is not young anymore but film shows it that he has still got it. Anthony Wong Chau-Sang acted well and I believe the movie is a good finale to the Ip Man series, showing the last days of his life in HK.
